[00:00:00] Buenas tardes, soy Goyo. It's nice to come to you again here from near Atlanta, Georgia. And Gabe and I are as always separate, but thinking of each other as we reflect on the special holiday in the United States called Thanksgiving.

[00:00:19] So normally Thanksgiving is spent in my family, or at least in my wife's family, with lots and lots of relatives around.

[00:00:35] However, due to circumstances involving the health of mis suegros, my in-laws, we are separated this year.

[00:00:44] Y resulta que este año de hecho solamente somos tres. Because my older son is going to visit his girlfriend's family in another city, it's only going to be the three of us, myself, my wife and my younger son, Nico.

[00:01:10] Now, last year when my wife prepared Thanksgiving for five or six of us, it took her three days, three days to cook all the food.

[00:01:25] And it made many extra meals after that, many of which, of course, spoiled, went to waste, because we couldn't eat all of the food that we had prepared.

[00:01:41] And this is typical of the Thanksgiving tradition. In our country, we make things too big, we make things too much. And so, there's waste, there's extra.

[00:01:57] And this year, I wanted to make things too big, especially for three people.

[00:02:06] And this year, I asked her, humbly, can we please break the tradition? And this year, can we go to a restaurant for Thanksgiving?

[00:02:19] Oh!

[00:02:21] Oh!

[00:02:21] And this is where the story sort of gets interesting.

[00:02:26] Because the restaurant that I want to go to is called Golden Corral.

[00:02:35] Golden Corral is un buffet. It's a buffet.

[00:02:40] And I think the buffet may be even like 30 meters long.

[00:02:48] It has three sets of food at all times.

[00:02:53] Salad over on the left, meats and fishes in the middle, and desserts on the right.

[00:03:01] But when you go to Golden Corral, you know that you're going to overeat. You're going to overindulge.

[00:03:13] Oh!

[00:03:13] Awww!

[00:03:16] Awww!

[00:03:17] Vas a sufrir de la cantidad de comida que probarás.

[00:03:22] Because you can't even taste the things that are on the buffet one time without filling your plate.

[00:03:31] Your plate will need to be emptied.

[00:03:35] You'll need to consume the food on your plate just to go back and try a few more things.

[00:03:41] so Gabo and I have talked in several episodes

[00:03:49] about the nature of what it is to be an American

[00:03:53] and a consumer

[00:03:54] that we do too much

[00:03:56] that we buy too much, eat too much

[00:04:04] sit too much

[00:04:06] we are not living human beings in a natural state

[00:04:11] because we are designed to be spending money

[00:04:14] and consuming

[00:04:16] that's what Americans do

[00:04:18] among other things of course

[00:04:21] but tomorrow

[00:04:23] I'm going to be one of those who participates in this

[00:04:28] but it's a blessing

[00:04:31] it's a gift

[00:04:33] because when I come home

[00:04:36] my wife and I will not have to clean

[00:04:38] for several hours

[00:04:41] the mess of all those dishes

[00:04:44] and if we want leftovers

[00:04:47] or lo que sobra

[00:04:50] we can purchase extra portions

[00:04:54] in Pariabar, right?

[00:04:56] to go

[00:04:56] and just pretend, right?

[00:04:59] fingir

[00:04:59] that those items are

[00:05:03] just what we didn't consume

[00:05:05] from our own kitchen

[00:05:11] so I hope you've enjoyed

[00:05:13] my little anecdote

[00:05:14] about how this year's Thanksgiving

[00:05:16] will be different

[00:05:18] if you'd like to hear

[00:05:20] about a more traditional Thanksgiving

[00:05:22] you can also

[00:05:23] go back in our catalog

[00:05:25] to a year ago

[00:05:26] and two years ago
